Here are a couple of pictures of Alex pre-op.
We tried to get a group shot. Doesn't Alex's face say it perfectly?! That worried look will probably still be there in the morning when he wakes up.
He is doing really well. He is still on the ventilator, only because they are doing the EEG tonight and want him sedated and happy. He is triggering each breath on the ventilator, so his body is doing the work, and the vent is there to help make sure that he gets adequate breaths if he decides to stop breathing. They are going to get rid of the vent in the morning, which will be such a huge relief! His lab values all look good, oxygen levels are where they should be(low-mid 80's), and so hopefully all will go well in the morning.
Here are a few pictures of what he looks like today.
Sam was busy this morning making "get well" cards for Alex. He wanted us to take them to him today and hang them up for him. Oh, and the tape on Alex's head is for the EEG.
I know that Alex looks like he's not doing well, but he is. We are so pleased with his progress. We hope that he continues to take big steps forward in his healing process. Our Heavenly Father has blessed him immensely! Your prayers mean so much to us. I sound like a broken record, but your prayers work! They are being answered. We are so grateful to all of you who have helped and will continue to help. We couldn't do this without your love and support! Thank you. We will post more tomorrow as we get more info, and hopefully the pictures will be with less tubes! These babies after surgery get massive headaches, due to the shift of blood and pressures. They typically take a couple of weeks to adjust. So don't be alarmed if his head/face look swollen. It's very normal and expected. Thank you again for your love!

Oh that face that Alex is making is so worrisome. . .it's great that surgery is all over and now he can recover and get back to being in your arms full of love. It's always hard to see them after surgery and no matter how much you prepare yourself, it's still shocking. Oh, he is a little tropper and so are his parents. I hope and pray that things go well today with being taken off the vent. He truly is a little miracle and I know Heavenly Father is watching over your family.
(((Hugs)))
I think he looks pretty good considering all that he has just gone through. Although it is hard to see him with all of the tubes attached. I also wanted to say thanks for strengthening my testimony. Watching you guys go through this and seeing your faith and testimony of the gospel as really been a boost to mine. I know Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers and he is mindful of us and our trials.
I hope he continues to progress well and get better and home soon!!Lots of love!
I'm so glad things went well and he is on the road to recovery. I will continue to pray for little Alex.
Camille thank you for showing me your support through my tough times with Cohen and Kelsi. It really means the world to me!
What a cutie with or without the tubes. He is such a special boy. I just can't get enough of him. He is a true miracle to our family. He has definetly brought the spirit into our family, he has strengthened our faith and love for the gospel and for the blessing that poor out from Heavenly Father. You guys are ALWAYS in our thoughts and prayers.

Gary and Camille - we love you!
Thanks for keeping us updated on Alex's progress. I know this is a very difficult time - but you are thoughtful to let those of us at home who are worrying and praying for you know what is happening.
Alex has had an incredible impact on the lives of so many in such a short time.
