Wow.... do I even remember how to do this?

Well, I am attempting to re-enter the blogging world. It's a little bit scary to "commit" to this, but we have reached that point once again where we need to keep lots of people updated. I'm sure you figured it out...... it's surgery time again. I have also taken our blog off of private status for now as well. We are so grateful to our family and the many loving friends and neighbors who want to check in, and blogger doesn't allow for that many "private" invitations.

Life is great! We have done so many fun things since I posted over a year and a half ago. Since I do not have time to catch up on all of that, we're starting fresh. I will include some pictures and updates of a few fun things we have done lately (Disneyland, Jackson Hole, Lagoon, etc.).

For this post I just wanted to let everyone know that Alex's next and (we hope) final surgery has been scheduled. On July 28th he will go the cath lab for a heart catheterization. This is typically a same day procedure that takes about an hour. They will measure the pressures in his heart which lets them know if he is a good candidate for surgery. Dr. Puchalski said he was tempted to skip this all together because of how well Alex is doing and for the great echocardiogram that he had the end of June, but he felt in the long run it was better to do it just for post-operative comparison.

Two weeks later on August 11th, he will go to the operating room for his open heart procedure called the Fontan. This will complete the 3 stages of correction. This will be similar to his last surgery as far as his hospital stay goes. They tell you to expect to be there for 2 weeks, and be grateful if you're out sooner. He was in the hospital for 7 days for his last one, and we're hoping for him to do just as well with this one.

As scary as this is to send him in, it's inevitable. We know he has to have it. We absolutely trust the doctors who will be caring for him. We have unwavering faith in our Heavenly Father and His great plan for Alex. We love and are grateful for the many guardian angels that we know are by his side. We always gratefully accept any prayers in behalf of Alex because we know they are heard and answered. We have witnessed that MANY times and will never deny the power of prayer and fasting.

Since my boys have changed a little bit over the last year and a half, here are a couple pictures until I can post again.

Have a great day!

I am SOOOO glad to hear your voice again through your blog. I have missed you dearly.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I think about you all the time. What a little trooper Alex is. He couldn't have a better mother to get him through this.

Your boys have grown up so much. They are adorable.
