One for Grandma...
Alex has decided that he likes to suck his thumb..... well that doesn't fly around here for so many reasons! Okay, he does look cute for about 5 seconds doing it, but....that's long enough! I will fight like mad to stop this during waking hours, but there's NO WAY I'm going to interrupt sleep to pull it out! Grandma Bon-Bon loves when babies suck their thumb, so Bon-Bon... this one's for you! Enjoy it, because it won't last (we hope)!

Naked baby....
Who doesn't love fat, naked, bath-taking babies? Well, here's ours......
He has decided that he loves to play pat-a-cake. He mostly just claps, and smiles, but he loves to do this part....

Sam the Vampire....
As I've mentioned before, Sam loves to pretend. It's always so funny to see what he has chosen to be for the day. It usually lasts for a couple of hours and then it's on to something else....

Time for Check-ups...
Today lucky Sam and Alex got to go to the Dr. Sam was really exicted because I told him that this was his kindergarten check-up:
Sam: "Really mom?"
Mom: "Yep, but you have to get your kindergarten shots ya know."
Sam: "Dang it!"
He did great though, no tears or anything! And he got Bugs Bunny and Taz bandaids, so he thought that was pretty cool.
Sam weighed in at 47 lbs, and is 48 in. tall. He is off the charts for height, and 95% for weight. Big boy and doing great!
Alex did not share Sam's same enthusiasm! This kid DOES NOT like to be messed with, by anyone really. He is in a phase right now, and throwing a fit is part of it! We do have to consider the fact that he has been "messed with" more than your average person, and all in 10 months. Although, I think he's just a pill!
Alex weighed in at 21 lbs 8 oz. and was 29 1/2 in long. His length has always been a question though, because back in December he measured at 30 1/2 in. The next month he measured at 29 in. Who knows, anyway, he's growing and that's all that matters!
He's in the 75th percentile for length and 50th percentile for weight. Considering all that he has been through, he is a big boy! We are so pleased with his growth.
All in all, the boys are doing great! Alex has started coughing a little bit, so we hope that he hasn't caught the cold that Sam and I are getting over. We are hoping that his RSV shot will offer some relief for whatever he's getting.

The Annual Father and Sons Trip...
This last weekend, the boys took off to the cabin to enjoy the annual "Father and Sons Snowmobiling Trip". As usual, they had a great time. Grandpa Coons was able to go this year, and really enjoyed his time with the boys.
They had a lot of fun riding snowmobiles, playing games, playing in the snow, snowshoeing and doing "boy things" (we don't really ask what those are!)
Alex got to stay home with mom (poor kid). We had plans to do more, but unfortunately, I got sick, and was a TOTAL party pooper! We (mom, Staci, Sara, Merilee, Rylee and I) did get to go to lunch at Olive Garden, and do a little shopping at Tai Pan so that was fun. I wish that I had felt better to do more, but I guess I thought it would be more fun to end up with a rotten cold!
We are so grateful to Michael, Ryan and Dad for providing the snowmobiles. Gary and Sam had a really great time! It takes a lot of work to get all of this arranged!
Thanks mom for helping out with Alex and Lucy when I was feeling so yucky! We have a wonderful family and are so grateful for the time that we have spend with them!

Birthday Dinner
Sam thought that since he was having a cowboy party, he better go to Texas Roadhouse for his birthday dinner. It didn't take much talking for mom and dad to agree. We're always looking for a reason to go there!
As you can tell.....Sam LOVES ribs!
He also go to sit on "the birthday saddle" and have the whole restaurant wish him a happy birthday with a big "Texas YEEE-HAW" (which made Alex cry:)). Bon-bon and Pa also joined us for the fun! Glad you had a Happy Birthday Sammy! We love you!

Whose idea was this.......
16 - 5 year old kids! Yep, that's right 16. There is a reason that we held it in our unfinished basement...white trash as it may seem, it's harder for kids to destroy concrete than carpet and paint!
This is the first time Sam has had a friend party for his birthday. We decided to start now, and he gets one every other year. I had NO intentions of having this many kids here, but by the time you invite preschool class, primary class, and friends from the neighborhood, that's what happens. I told him (even before his party), that from now on he gets as many friends invited as he is years in age, and now after the party, I really mean it!
Sam wanted to do a cowboy party (go figure), so that's how it ended up. We decorated vests (paper bags), got cowboy hats and bandanas. We played 3 games, did presents and had cake and ice cream, and still had extra time. Thank heavens for the park across the street! That is where we spent the last 25 minutes of the party. The kids loved it, and my house really wasn't destroyed.
Here's to no parties for 2 years!

5 YEARS OLD!!
I'm not old enough to have a 5 year old....Gary is, but not me! Sam turns 5 on Thursday, March 5th. What a fun 5 years it has been!
Sam, you always bring a smile to the faces of everyone you meet! Your big brown eyes, huge dimples, sweet face and the funny comments you make bring so much joy to all.
Things we love about you.......
You love mud, sand, water and getting dirty outside
You love to help daddy when he's doing "boy things"
You absolutely IDOLIZE the Bar J Wranglers
So much in fact that you want to play every instrument that they do (and you have quite the imagination...yes, that's a fiddle and bow)
And you rarely leave the house without your cowboy hat and boots
You have always loved to read and learn (cute Sammy, almost 3 yrs old)
You surprise us every morning with who you're going to be for the day (Batman, Spiderman, cowboy Sam, Darth Vader, various animals such as an eagle, snapping turtle, crocodiles, frogs, a wolf, etc.
We know that you're the most handsome boy around
You are the best big brother ever
